- My site is not hosted by BCSWebCo. Can I still use a free Weather Magnet?
Yes! Any site can display one of our Weather Magnets as long as it does not violate our Weather Magnet Terms and Conditions. Of course, having us host your site is even better!!
- I've seen Weather Magnets offered elsewhere. How are BCSWebCo magnets different?
We offer several styles ranging from a simple current temperature display to a 5 day forecast. With the exception of our logo, your visitors are not tempted to leave your site with other ads. Unlike some of the larger weather providers, we do not use follow-up tracking that might violate your visitors' privacy.
- I did not receive my Weather Magnet code by email
There could be several reasons for this - CLICK HERE
- The Weather Magnet is showing the same time even though I refresh the page
Local temperatures and conditions are updated hourly by the observation station as a norm. Most report at the same time each hour, but this can vary from location to location. To reduce some load on our end, we cache results several times an hour. Constantly refreshing a page displaying our magnet will not update the data if new data is not available from our server.
- I entered my zip code correctly, but the location shown is for another nearby location
We use a postal ZIP database provided by the U.S. Postal Service that may not include lesser towns/localities. Example: 32404 is the ZIP code for Callaway, FL. The U.S. Postal Service considers this to actually be Panama City, FL
- Sometimes the Weather Magnet takes a few seconds to load
Weather Magnet images are created dynamically on our end based on the location you have selected. The creation involves "pulling" the latest data supplied by The National Weather Service (IWIN) as well as the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). If their systems are slow to respond, this may cause a slight delay.
- The 5 Day Forecast magnet does not display a time
5 Day Forecasts are only provided by the weather service once or twice a day. We use the most current information that is available. The displayed current temperature at the top of the magnet is updated hourly and does not rely on the forecast data. The time has been omitted to prevent any confusion between the forecast and the current condition.
- My Weather Magnet just stopped working!
Make sure you have not modified the code that was emailed. You can always obtain a fresh copy by resubmitting the form request. Sometimes we are forced to block access to sites that are found to violate our Terms and Conditions. If this has happened, we will notify you through the email address you used when requesting the magnet code. On a rare instances, we may be just working on the server for a few minutes and the display will return within the hour.
- Can I remove the link back to your site?
No. As indicated in our Terms and Conditions, this cannot be removed. If you would like to use one of our Weather Magnets without our link or company information you would need to contact our sales department for a custom design.
- Can I change the colors, text, information, background, size of the magnet?
No. Our Weather Magnets do not allow for customization and are provided as is. Note that changing the size will most likely distort the text that is displayed.
- Can you provide a custom Weather Magnet for my site? A custom location?
This could be possible depending on what needs to be customized. A design fee would apply. You would need to contact our sales department - please see the contact link at the top of this page. If your site is hosted by us, be sure to mention this for special pricing!
